Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She is a founder of The Huffington Post and the chief executive officer of Thrive Global. Author of more than 15 books. Arianna Huffington is an writer, journalist, TV host, and also the proprietor of The Huffington Post. Originally from Greece she moved to England when she was sixteen and then graduated from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. The infamous debating society The Cambridge Union was her first presidency and she did it before the age of 21. Her success as a columnist of the conservative side was confirmed after she graduated. After the launch of The Huffington Post a few months later, she launched an online voice-portal that provided critical opinions on the state of the nation's politics. The fame she gained helped her to convince several celebrities to contribute their opinion regarding current affairs, the political and culture. Arianna's fame was first noticed in 2003 when she declared herself an independent candidate in the California recall election to succeed Governor Davis. Aside from that, Arianna also spearheaded a Detroit campaign to encourage fuel-efficient cars. In 2009 she was named by Forbes as The most influential women in the media, achieving 12th position in the list and in the same year the Guardian included her in the top 100 media list. AOL purchased The Huffington Post from AOL in 2011. Then she was appointed the President of AOL's media group. It was comprised of several AOL owned properties like Engadget AOL Style List and Patch Media. She was born to a journalist and management consultant Konstantinos along with his partner Elli Stasinopoulos. The way she lived her life was determined by her closeness to her mother as well as her relationship with her dad, despite her being very close to her father. In her early years, she displayed her leadership skills for which she's still known. At the age of sixteen, she left America to United Kingdom and enrolled Girton College Cambridge. In the time of her studies she joined Cambridge Union. Cambridge Union debating group where she was elected the first woman and the only president from outside the country. In 1972, she graduated with a Masters in Economics. In the years following after graduation she was an editor of the critic's column and a television host.
