Dolly Parton was born on January 19, 1946, on the 19th of January 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. She was raised with 12 other kids. The vivid imagination of her mother helped her escape from the harsh realities of everyday life. Before she learned to write and read, she was writing her own songs. When she was 8 when she bought the first electric guitar she owned and began singing on a Knoxville Tenn Radio Station. She released her debut album during the same year on Gold Band Records, a small label that was an independent. She established herself in the local scene while still at high school, but she always dreamed about a bigger stage. She moved to Nashville the day after graduating in 1964. Her first charting hits on Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. Around this time, Porter Wagoner was looking for an actress to sing for the show he had syndicated to television. Parton was brought on in the year she signed with RCA Records by 1968, becoming a member of the Grand Ole Opry. The show ended in 1974 as her solo albums like Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene were out-charting their collaborations. Parton, after the split of their relationship with Wagoner She wrote her hit song"I Will Never Love You and had it reach the top spot at No. 1 for the very first time in 1974.
