Lee Roy Selmon's story combines the football scholarship of his parents and a commitment to the community. The first time, he was raised by Lucious and Jessie Selmon, on a farm near Eufala located in Oklahoma as the youngest of their nine children. A second reason was Selmon is the youngest of three brothers who played for Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. The year 1973 was the first time Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the players for one season. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award and the Lombardi Award as the top lineman in America. He won two championships and the score was 32-1-1 over his three seasons as Oklahoma's main man. A third scholarship saw him named as a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon obtained his diploma in education. Lee Roy's fourth time of service included ten hours per week as a volunteer in college. In Tampa the Buccaneers, he was a player for the Buccaneers for nine seasons before becoming an all-pro. Additionally, he started his career in the field of business. In 1988, he was an Account Relation Officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also a part of the following organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. No wonder that In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of America's 10 outstanding young males. Lee Roy weighed 256 lbs and was a tall of 6'2 inches. When he was playing for college, he was the head coach of the team of 1975. In 1993, he joined the university of south Fla's athletic department as its Director of Athletics as an associate. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame through The GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994, as well as in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Jr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor who presented this award.
